Wolves by Naythan hamblen

One of the largest wolves is the grey wolf. Wolves are the largest members of the dog

family. Wolves are scary because of their spine-tingling howl, which they use to communicate. Wolves hunt in packs to hunt food more easier. Packs sizes vary from 3 to 20 wolves in one pack. Individual wolves in a pack have

different roles in relation to the other wolves in the group. adult wolves have 42 teeth. Wolves can roam large

distances, sometimes up to 12 miles 20 kilometers in a single day. The grey wolf has always been feared by many people. Once a wolf has found a mate, they tend to stay together through bad times to help each other.

Of course it is typically only the alpha male and female that breed leaving the rest of the adult pack members to help rear the young and ensure their survival. Wolves can eat a huge amount, as much as 9 kg, in one sitting. The alpha male is first to eat the food and will devour the most meat out of the pack, followed by other pack members and or other scavengers. Although this is partly to blame for their bad reputation, it is really a survival tactic, as they never know when their next meal will be and often it is days before they eat again.

In addition to a trend toward monogamy, wolves develop such strong social bonds for their family and other loved ones, they have been known to sacrifice themselves for the survival of the pack / family unit so the other wolves live and survive. http://www.wolfmatters.org/wolf-facts.html is the website i used
