They are important to call your friends or family daily. And to to download any games on google play or the app store depending on which phone you have. Another reason they are important to have something to play on when are bored and don't have anything to do. Or if you want to watch youtube or games or facebook ect. And and you can take pictures and other things you can also do on your phone. If you drop your phone in water i will not work unless you have a water proof phone then it will still work.
