League Of Legends was released October 27, 2009. League Of Legends is a third-person multiplayer online battle arena video game developed by Riot Games made for Microsoft Windows and mac-OS. League Of Legends was inspired by Warcraft lll: The Frozen Throne mod and DOTA(Defense of The Ancients). After release it only took three years for the game to completely blew up(metaphorically). In 2012 it was the most played PC game in North America and Europe in terms of the number of hours played. In January 2014, 27 million people played League of Legends per day and over 7.5 million concurrently during peak hours.
League of Legends gained a lot of it's popularity due to video streaming websites such as YouTube and Twitch. I myself started playing it three years ago and have not stopped since. League of Legends gains most of its income from in-app purchases and tournaments.
The reason I think that League is such a good game is due to how much I have fun playing the game. They also hold events that add certain in-app purchases that make either your character or your profile itself look much cooler. I enjoy the mechanics since it isn't just point click point click more than half the time but instead you can do combos that add more to the game, and play a massive role in competitive play where pro's go against each other. Also there is many characters to play besides just a few.
