Splatoon 2 is a third person shooter released in July 21, 2017, a game full of customizable characters called Inklings and Octolings that you can play as for battles. There are more than 20 stages to battle on and more than 100 different weapons you can get and bring into battle! Whether on Single Player, Multiplayer, or Competitive play you will enjoy every thing about this game!

INTRODUCTION

You start out as an Inkling, a half squid half kid, which you get to customize with their hair style, eye color, skin color, and pants. For your head-gear, shirt, and shoes you get the basic, one star ability type of gear that you can change and upgrade later on. As your character you go through the tutorial to learn the controls and how to play before going to the Inkopolis Square where the real adventure begins.

In the square you can do tons of things such as see everyones drawings! You can even draw your own thing in the red mail box near the mysterious Inkling, but we'll get to her later.

On the left there are three different shops called the Galleria; Ammo Knights, Headspace, Shella Fresh, and Ye Old Cloth Shoppe. Ammo Knights is the store with the large selection weapons.

Sheldon is the owner of the shop and is responsible of selling the weapons. Careful though, he nerds out and once he does it takes a while to get him to stop talking but thanks to one of the newest updates you can speed past his dialogue! Thank gosh.

Flow, the owner of Headspace, is a peace loving sea slug that runs the head gear store with her friend, Craymond who acts like Moe in the first game. She is the new character in place of the other Splatoon headshop owner, Annie.

Next is Jelfonzo, the owner of Ye Old Cloth Shoppe and in this game he sells shirts rather than his presumed father from the other game, Jelonzo. He had learned Inkling through ancient text books, making him sound rather wonky.

The last shop owner is Bisk, a spider crab from Shella Fresh! In the old game the character Crusty Sean was the shoe shop owner but since then he moved to a food cart in the plaza and Bisk took his spot. Bisk is a rather chill character who has some what of a skater look to him despite being around his twenties.

Back to the Plaza you may see a food truck behind you. That owner of the food truck is Sean, the character who I mentioned used to be the shoe shop owner in the first Splatoon game. Sean gives you food that can help with the amount of coins you can get at the end of battles or the amount of XP you get. The food also comes in the amounts of the coins/XP you can get: 1.5x, 2x, and 3x with 3x being the rarest to get. Other than food you can get drinks, which each gives you a certain ability for 20 battles! Although these things are really good to have they're hard to get. You can get these by playing Salmon Run and Single Player Mode, which you either have to earn or find.

In the far left corner is a place called Grizzco where hosts your Salmon Runs. There you can battle boss Salmon and earn coins, tickets, abilities, and gear! The more you play, the bigger and better your prizes and rank will be! In this game you are challenged by using different weapons, specials, bosses, and stages. If you are high enough rank you may get special events, one of those being Rush. Rush is where you and your team is attacked by faster and stronger Salmonids that attack the person on your team with the fireflies circling around them. They come in large groups and are known to be hard to beat. Get enough golden eggs that are dropped by bosses to win!

Now, the main attraction in Inkopolis Square, the Battle Lobby. The Battle Lobby is the place where you can play Turf War, Ranked, League Battle, and Private Battle. Turf War's goal is to ink the most turf to win! In Turf War the best weapons are weapons that cover a lot of turf such as the Roller, Areospray, Bucket, and fast Shooters. In Ranked Battle you have a chance to play Clam Blitz, Rainmaker, Splat Zones, or Tower Control which are all timed to play in certain hours.

Clam Blitz is the game where you collect 10 clams and make them into a power clam so you can then throw it on the other teams basket, and teammates with both clams and power clams and tick down the counter with each clam. Whoever gets the most points ticked down on the other team wins ( You also can win with a KO when you fully take down their basket)!

Rainmaker is the game where you take this golden object called the Rainmaker and have to get the object on the other teams podium. The Rainmaker that you or your teammate holds can shoot a giant explosion, but it takes a while to charge and set off that explosion. By getting to the other teams podium or going the farthest before times up wins!

Splat Zones, a little similar to Turf War, is a game where you and your team have to ink and protect one or two zones ( depending on the map). And that's it. Whoever gets a KO or ticks down their time the most wins!

Tower Control is where you have to get on this moving tower and ride it until you get to the other side of the map and win! Once you die on the tower however and no one is on it, the tower moves back to the middle of the map where it was at the beginning of the match. While riding the tower there are three places the tower stops and has to wait up to 15 seconds. This time can go down faster if there is more of your team on it with you. If the other teams player is on it with you, it won't move at all. Whoever once again gets KO or gets the furthest wins!

Next time I'll talk about the weapons and abilities!
