Overwatch was released on May 24th, 2016, as well as got Game of the Year for 2016 and 2017. This shows that it is a really good game, and it still is, since Blizzard, the creator of Overwatch, is releasing new characters. And it is still played all across the world. In this post, I will be talking about the history of the Overwatch universe.
First, there was the Omnic Crisis in the year 2046. The Omnic Crisis is when Omniums went rouge, and made built robots controlled by evil AIs. Most of the robots were Bastion units. That's when the United Nations made Overwatch, an international task force that had the best military and technology. When the Omnic Crisis was over, Overwatch was a celebrated as heroes.
Some of the most important people were Gabriel Reyes, Jack Morrison, Ana Amari, Torjorn Lindholm, Reinhardt Wilhelm, Angela Ziegler, and Gerard Lacroix. Jack and Gabe were both great soldiers, and great friends. But when Jack became Strike Commander, he made Gabe be the leader of Blackwatch, a covert ops division. Then, Jack made Ana Amari, once one of the world's most deadly snipers, as second in command.
After the Omnic Crisis, Overwatch was still around, keeping the world a safer place, since there were still evil robots around. Then came hard light technology. It was made with real light! When Vishkar made this, they also made an academy to "train" architechs on how to use it.
When Vishkar was looking for students, they had found a perfect student. Her name is Satya Vaswani. They took her from her poor home, and trained her. When she got to a point where she was the best at it, they gave her a new name: Symmetra. She was put on a mission to make every place in the world accepting to the new technology. When they got to Brazil, the people there were not happy.
One of those people are Lúcio Correia dos Santos, a Brazilian DJ. He stole some of the hard light technology to fight against Vishkar. Other celebrities include the number 1 Starcraft Player: Dva, from South Korea, and some of the most infamous criminals Junkrat and Roadhog.
One night, when Blackwatch went to Italy, Gabe killed the leader of Talon, a terrorist group. When he did, he caused a disturbance,and getting in trouble from Overwatch and the public.
One day, Lena Oxton, a pilot for Overwatch, was chosen to be used for an new plane that the scientist had made. When she flew the plane, something went wrong, and it caused her, and the plane, to disappear. She was gone for a couple of months, until one day, she had appeared. But, she would then disappear, and reappear again. This always happened, until Winston, an intelligent gorilla, made a machine to keep her in the present, but be able to have her reverse time (for her).
