On, February 19, 2019 Manny Machado, finally decided to sign with a team. The deal that he agreed on was a 10-year, $300 million dollar deal with the San Diego Padres. The significance about this deal is that it is one the biggest free agent contract in the history of baseball, so far. Before, the biggest free agent contract was $275 million, to Alex Rodriguez. Now the biggest deal is $325 million that Giancarlo Stanton signed. Rumors have it that Bryce Harper's deal is going to surpass Stanton's. So far it looks like Bryce Harper will sign a huge contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies were planning on getting either Harper or Machado at first, but after time they started going down the Harper path. After, the signing of Machado, you might wonder if the Phillies offer for Bryce Harper will go up and if the offer does it will be the biggest free agent contract without a doubt.
