Magic the Gathering is a strategy/ card game that is not very well known among the estimated 7 billion people on the earth. The game itself is very technical, with the land/ Mana (Which you get from land cards) system to summon creatures to defeat the opponent who is trying to do the same to you.
When you are just getting into magic the gathering, you will probably feel frustrated, but after you play for a bit, you will feel even worse, because the more the other people play, the less chance you have of winning. it also has really good artwork.
The story of Magic the Gathering goes a little like this... A bunch of God-like people (Planes-walkers) are fighting each other. You are here to fight with them. That is the ENTIRE story line.
This is how you play the game;
1. Play land
2. Repeat 1. and play creatures/spells
3. Repeat until either A. other person quits, or B. you have enough creatures and spells to destroy them
