Discworld is a book series by Terry Pratchett. it has a cast of many characters, such as Rincewind the wizzard (the extra z is there for a reason, i just don't know yet). he is a coward, can only cast spells on accident, and has survived for a long time (and would quite like to keep it that way), and he is extremely lucky (which, to him, is more like having several encounters with DEATH). In this world (which is held on the back of four elephants, which are held on the back of Great A'tuin, the world turtle) gods play on the board game of life, and people ascend in ranking by killing their competitors, so DEATH (he speaks in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS) is almost always busy.
Discworld is also full of magic, so much so that the light goes noticeably slower there. It has groups of eccentric wizards, war-waging countries, strange creatures, and has already come to the end with the death of the creator, Terry Pratchett.
