Marine biologists are people who study organisms that live in salt water and life around them. How much education you need depends on what type of job you want. You will need at least 4 years of college education to get a job that doesn't involve any research. Also, not all colleges have marine biology programs. Some colleges in Illinois with marine biology programs are Illinois Wesleyan University, Northwestern University, and the University of Chicago. Marine biologists earn about $60,000 dollars a year. There are many different types of jobs in marine biology, like an aquarium manager, a research assistant, and a professor in marine ecology. To be a aquarium manager you need a graduate degree. To be a research assistant you need a masters degree. To be a professor in ecology you need a masters degree. So, if you are obsessed with underwater sea creatures, being a marine biologist may be right for you.
