What I learned about Abraham Lincoln was that he was born on February 12, 1809. Lincoln died on April 15, 1865. He lived to be 56 years old! He was assassinated. The person who assassinated him was John Wilkes Booth. John got into the theater about 10 p.m. where Abraham Lincoln was. John got into the theater by telling the guard that the president had sent for him. John shot Lincoln right on the side of the head right behind his left ear.
He was sitting in the left corner nearest to the audience in an armchair. Lincoln's wife was sitting right next to him paying close attention to the play. Lincoln died at 7:22 a.m. the next morning. The last few hours before he died his wife and son Robert was with him in his room. Also some of the top government officials were with him. He was also the 16th president of the United States. Lincoln's nickname was Honest Abe because he was always honest. He served as president for 5 years!
